Jodhpur - Merangarh Fort
The fort is situated above the city and is enclosed by imposing thick walls. Inside its boundaries there are several palaces known for their intricate carvings and expansive courtyards. The museum in the Mehrangarh fort is one of the most well-stocked museums in Rajasthan. The museum exhibits the heritage of the Rathores in arms, costumes, paintings and decorated period rooms.

Jodhpur is also named as "the blue city" because of the many blue buildings in the old town. Today anybody can have a blue house. In ancient times it was the privilege of the Brahman caste. The indigo pigment not only coloured the paint but was also effective against insects.
